MOT INFORMATION

All vehicles 3 years old and older are required by law to have an annual MOT test (Ministry of Transport test) to ensure it meets legal safety requirements.

On passing the MOT test, your vehicle will receive a valid certificate. MOT tests can be carried out on your vehicle up to one month prior to the expiry date of an existing MOT certificate provided that a current MOT certificate is presented to the examiner at the time of the test.

All of our examiners are Vehicle Inspectorate approved and thoroughly follow the guidelines and standards set by the Vehicle Inspectorate.

It is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle is examined annually. Without a valid MOT certificate, you are unable to drive your vehicle lawfully or renew your road fund license.

The penalty for not having a valid MOT certificate could be a fine and if your vehicle is involved in an accident you may be asked to produce your valid MOT certificate. An insurance claim could be affected by the absence of your MOT, especially in the case of injury.
